Dear Baby

Dear Baby Carter,

Today is your forty week birthday! ...but, at least so far you've decided to spend it in my belly, so it is an interesting type of birthday- maybe I'll make a cake and eat it for you so you can celebrate your own prenatal arrival at forty weeks.

Last week the doctor was getting worried that you weren't growing because I wasn't growing. I have weighed about 128 pounds with little change for almost a month now. However, to me that's still big because I started at 103. My measurements also haven't changed much for a month, so he asked me to get another ultrasound.

What a treat that was! I felt like I got to peek at you early! You were 6 pounds 13 oz according to the test, with a little tiny head. The ultrasound put your head size at 35 weeks gestational age. But yesterday at my last doctor's appointment, Dr. Cannon said he thought that was a mistake and your head was probably bigger.

I watched you stick out your little tongue and swallow a little of that amniotic fluid. Yum...I guess. Your daddy asked the technician to double check and make sure you had all the "right parts"! Haha...he is so excited to be having a little boy. And don't worry you are very much a boy. You also had a little dimple in your chin. Mommy and daddy both have one, but mine is much bigger than daddy's so I can't wait to see what yours looks like. You also have hair! Maybe just a little patch, but you have some- something I was excited about because I really didn't want you to be bald.

But even though you are all grown out of your fetus stage, you don't want to come yet for whatever reason. But I hope you come soon because otherwise the doctor is going to induce me on Tuesday, May 24th. I think you should get to pick your own birthday though, so Daddy and I went for a really long walk around Burley yesterday. We made a pit stop at dairy queen and you and me had a strawberry lemonade ice cream freeze! Oddly enough, our Doctor showed up there with his family haha. But I didn't say hi cause I felt guilty eating ice cream in front of my doctor. Haha. Oh well, I'm sure you liked it!

Daddy also bought me an exercise ball and raspberry red leaf tea...rumor has it these things are supposed to help you make your arrival...but I'm pretty sure you have a mind of your own. So, I guess until you come I will keep decorating your nursery-I've been making pillows for it this week which is silly because you can't even have pillows in your crib. :) Anything to keep busy, so come baby come. We are excited to meet you!

Love your mommy.

Oh and before I forget, I have to tell you, I think you love Michael Buble. Our alarm went off to one of his songs and you danced around my belly to the beat for the whole song! It was so fun! And then when the song was over you went back to sleep. I bet you'll be a music lover like your dad. See you soon. :)
