38 weeks

I am 38 weeks and 1 day pregnant with you Carter. You’re coming soon! I finished all of my finals early on Monday so that I could have as much time as possible to make things for you and get this house ready for your arrival. You are getting so big, or should I say my belly is getting so big! Last week at the doctor I measured 37” and weighted 128 pounds! I’ve gained 25 pounds since the start of my pregnancy baby! That’s almost a quarter of my body weight. Your head was down and in the right position, although you had the doctor fooled. He thought you were breach and had to get the ultrasound machine out to check, but you tricked him! You were in just the right place.

Yesterday Casey and I went to hypnobirthing class. We want to experience your birth naturally, so we are learning relaxation techniques so that I can do it without pain medication. We don’t want you to get any drugs in your system, and are excited to experience your birth together. Our teacher, Evelyn Hedges, is a sweet and quirky older lady who works in the Twin Falls temple. She is very impressed with your Daddy’s soothing, gentle voice. Your daddy can get me relaxed in five minutes!

I know you love him too! You know how I know? Whenever daddy puts his hands around my belly to feel you, you migrate to wherever he is almost immediately. You don’t always do that for me. I think you love your daddy already. He loves to talk to you and sing songs to you. Daddy loves Mary Poppins and so he always sings that lullaby to you at night. We still don’t know all the words to the song, but he is convinced that you are going to love it!

You are going to be such a loved little boy. Everyone is awaiting your arrival with great anticipation. My mom, your grandma, calls me almost every day to check on me and grandpa Stan is just as excited! I have a new found power too! Whenever I call grandma now, she always picks up my calls or calls back in less than five minutes because she is waiting for that magical phone call that you are going to be born! Haha! I love it!
